VOLUNTEER

DSC08024.jpg

If you are interested in volunteering on our urban farm, please read the following carefully to see if volunteering is a good fit for you, then sign up at the bottom of the page. Please keep in mind that farming is skilled labor, and while we appreciate your interest in getting involved in local agriculture, the work that we can use volunteer assistance with is often very repetitive (i.e. weeding or moving brush.)  Instructing a new group of volunteers is a lot of work for us, so we have limited volunteer days throughout the season, and we keep the volunteer tasks simple or risk having to redo work later.  Thank you for understanding!

  • We host volunteers for work parties throughout the season when we have a big task we could use help with which we will announce via email. Add your name to the volunteer form below to stay tuned about work parties. Also consider signing up for our newsletter to stay informed about other news!

  • Volunteers must bring their own sun and weather protection, closed toe shoes, gloves, and water.

  • Volunteer tasks are often repetitive and involve squatting, kneeling, and lifting heavy objects. We will do our best to accommodate your physical ability, however the tasks we need help with are: weeding, raking, digging, wheelbarrowing and shoveling compost, soil or other materials, turning compost piles, helping with infrastructure like fencing, moving irrigation, and more. **The majority of the help we need is weeding, so if you don’t like weeding, this may not be the best fit for you.**

  • You will need to sign a liability waiver when you come to volunteer at the farm.

  • Please come to volunteer only on designated work party days/times. We will send you an email before the work party to remind you of the date and time.
